The City of Bremerton is contracting with BERK Consulting to assess the current condition of the parking system, identify future needs and make recommendations for strategies to address demand and financing of the system.
The City of Bremerton operates a parking system consisting of on street parking, surface lots and three parking garages. In addition to the demand from residents and businesses, the demand for parking in the downtown core and surrounding neighborhoods is heavily impacted by employees of Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, the area’s largest employer, ferry commuters to Seattle via the Washington State Ferry Terminal, and students attending Olympic College. A projected increase in density in the downtown core will also contribute to an increase in demand for parking in the near future.
A stakeholder advisory group will be formed to identify key parking issues and review project data, findings, and recommendations. The application period for the Stakeholder Advisory Committee is now closed. Staff are reviewing applications and applicants will be notified whether or not they are selected to be on the committee by the end of July.
As details and schedules become available, this page will be updated. Subscribe to the "Parking Study" News Flash list to receive project updates.
