Shortly after 8pm on July 8th 2018, Bremerton police officers responded to the 1400 block of 17th St for a domestic violence altercation involving a mother and her 37-year old son. While the initial responding officer spoke to the mother outside, the suspect approached them wielding a machete and threatening to kill them. The suspect then barricaded himself inside the residence.
Bremerton officers with assistance from Washington State Patrol and the Kitsap County Sheriff’s Office secured the perimeter and initiated a callout to the Kitsap County Regional SWAT team. After obtaining a search warrant, the SWAT team entered the residence at approximately 10:30pm and recovered the machete. The suspect was not found and was believed to have fled on foot.
At approximately 11:48pm, officers located the suspect in downtown Bremerton and placed into custody without incident. The suspect was booked into the Kitsap County Jail for domestic violence assault 2nd degree, and domestic violence felony harassment.
