Evergreen Neighborhood Association upcoming events
Evergreen Neighborhood Association (ENA) has laid out an aggressive schedule for making changes in the Evergreen neighborhood. Join them today and be part of making decisions about the direction of the community. The general public is welcome at all of the ENA meetings and events.February 12th 10am – Sprucing up and maintaining the traffic circle at 14th and Park Ave. ENA already have some volunteers, but they could always use more individuals to help out. So bring your water can, weeding tools and maybe a small drought resistant plant and help keep the traffic circle looking good. Remember, if you have an area that you think could use some sprucing up and some plantings please let ENA know so they can add to future meeting agendas.
February 27th 3pm – ENA General Meeting at Cafe Destino. ENA will be discussing the Spaghetti Feed and Lavender Planting Project. Bremerton Urban Gardener Society (BUGS) will be the guest speaker.
March 20th 5pm – 1st Annual ENA Spaghetti and Beer Feed at Cafe Destino. The cost is $10 per person. This is a fund raising event for ENA's operating cost and project fund. ENA needs volunteers to help gather donations from local grocery stores, prepare the meal and clean up. Please contact Cynthia Cruver if you wish to volunteer for meal prep or clean up. Please contact Dean Roberts if you wish to help with gather donations.
April 16th 10am – Lavender Planting on 14th Street between Sheldon and Park Ave. ENA's goal is to plant over 100 lavender plants on both sides of 14th Ave near Evergreen Park. Imagine walking on 14th Ave in June and smelling lavender and as you look over to the park a sea of purple flowers catch your eye. This is a very ambitious project. It will require at least 15 volunteers and about $800 in plant materials. The Spaghetti Feed will help fund part of the cost of this project. The rest will have to come from donations designated to help with the Lavender Project. If you wish to donate your time please contact Jeff Kerneen. If you wish to donate money please contact Dean Roberts. Jeff Kerneen will send out an e-mail determining the species of lavender ENA will plant. You may bring a plant if you wish, but ENA can get them cheaper if they buy in bulk. ENA also will need liquid root stimulator fertilizer, dolomite lime and bark or wood chips.
