Bremerton Fire Station #1 receives National Award

Bremerton Fire Station #1 recently won Fire Chief Magazines Station Style Bronze Award for a new career station. It will also be published in the magazines November issue.

Fire Chief Magazine, each year, accepts entries from across the U.S. for the categories of New Career Station, New Volunteer Station, and Renovation for the Station Style Awards. This year, Rice Fergus Miller Architecture & Planning submitted Bremerton Fire Station #1 as a New Career Station. It received a Bronze Award.

When informed of the award, Mayor Cary Bozeman said, "We are proud of our new fire station and just as proud that it was designed by our local architectural firm, Rice Fergus Miller."

Fire Chief Al Duke was also pleased with the news, having a station that is nationally recognized by his industry and peers. "The station is amazing. Every aspect was discussed during the design of the building, and that is reflected in its functionality now. The citizens should be very proud of their station, and even more proud that it was designed by some of their own."

Two members of the projects design team, Dave Fergus and Ed McManamna, will be attending the national F.I.E.R.O. conference in North Carolina, and will be receiving the award.

Rice Fergus Miller focuses on architecture, planning and interior design of emergency facilities, housing, health care and community buildings. The firm can be reached at (360) 377-8773.
