INSTRUCTOR - Part-Time (2 openings)/Seasonal (2 openings)
SALARY: $8.59 - $15.50 DOQ
Hours of Work: 2-6 hours per day up to 4-12 hours per week

Job Requirements:
Instructor I
- Successful completion of the Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center Grade School Instructor/Instructor Aide training program.
- Obtain a valid American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate or equivalent within 30 working days.
- Obtain a valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or equivalent within 30 working days.
- Valid American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor's certificate and authorization or equivalent.
- Valid American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certificate or equivalent.
- Valid American Red Cross Standard First Aid certificate or equivalent.
- Knowledge and understanding of teaching progression related to swimming programs.
- Thorough knowledge of water safety practices in and around swimming pools.
- Ability to organize, motivate, and communicate with patrons.
This is a highly visible position requiring an extremely dedicated individual. The person in this position will be responsible for promoting the Water Safety programs of the aquatic center. The quality of these programs is directly related to the quality of the individuals instructing the courses. This position demands professionalism with high performance standards and enthusiasm.

Responsible for the supervision and management of pool staff.
Qualifying Education and Experience: Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Training Certification (including First Aid) or equivalent required. Valid American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent required. Valid American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification or equivalent. Thorough knowledge of safety practices in and around swimming pools. Thorough knowledge of lifeguarding techniques, use of equipment, and first aid care. Intelligence and reasoning ability. Ability to communicate with patrons and staff. Outstanding waters skills. Supervisory experience. Basic knowledge of bookkeeping. Knowledge of water chemistry and filtration.

- Valid Aquatic Exercise Association Aquatic Fitness Instructor certificate or equivalent; and/or valid Arthritis Foundation Arthritis Aquatic Exercise Instructor certificate or equivalent.
- Valid American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification or equivalent required. Valid American Red Cross First Aid certification or equivalent.
