Responsibilities & Objectives
Duties are set forth in the City's Charter, which provides that the City Attorney shall be the sole and exclusive legal advisor of the City, City Council and all City commissions, committees, officers and employees. It furnishes the legal support for all full service municipal operation, including departments of police, fire, public works, community development, library, refuse etc.
The City Attorney's Office does not represent individual citizens of the City in private matters. Citizens should consult with a private attorney regarding all private matters.
Human Resources provides administrative and personnel services to all departments of the City and acts as a conduit between employees and management. This is accomplished by monitoring compliance with established policies and procedures, labor contracts, employment laws, and by managing the City's "human resources" to meet the City's established goals and objectives.
