The Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center is owned and operated by the City of Bremerton Parks and Recreation Department. It is located in EastPark, along with the Kitsap Family YMCA, and the Bremerton Ice Arena. It is open to the public Monday-Friday from 5:30 am to approximately 8:30-9:00 pm (depending on day), and Saturday and Sunday from noon to 3:30 pm. It is available for private rental during non-operational hours on the weekends.
The pool has a 25 yard tank with six lanes and a bulkhead that divides a shallow water area. There is a 1 meter diving board and small tube slide. The shallow end has a basketball hoop and is used extensively for water aerobics, arthritis and therapeutic swims, instructional swims, and more. There is a glassed in mezzanine area overlooking the pool for spectators which provides space for birthday parties and other celebration events. The administrative offices are housed in the center area between the men's and women's locker rooms.
The Bremerton Municipal Pool's ground breaking was in November of 1977. It took 18 months to complete and the grand opening occurred June 18, 1979. It is the first indoor pool for the city, and provides year-round aquatic sports, fitness, and water opportunities. On June 2, 1996, the pool was renamed the Glenn Jarstad Aquatic Center in recognition of former Mayor Jarstad who was instrumental in ensuring the pool's construction and funding.
